Get active and raise awareness

Register yourself or a team in a fun run or walk in your local area to help raise funds and awareness of inflammatory bowel disease in your local community. Moderate exercise can be helpful for people with Crohn’s and colitis – some research suggests that the beneficial effects of regular exercise may be in part due to the anti-inflammatory effects of myokines released due to skeletal muscle contractions. CCA Committee member, Lachlan Pike, credits running 10km a day as an important part of monitoring his disease. However, do only what you can!

I decided to participate in the City2Surf this year as I fully understand the struggle that people with Crohn’s and colitis go through each and every day and wanted to contribute to the cause to help others improve their quality of life! There have been many times where I was unable to walk long distances, or at all due to my illness. I wanted to walk for those who were unable to do it themselves!
