Awareness Month 2016

What’s happening in Crohn’s & Colitis Awareness Month 2016?

This May we have a range of activities being rolled out across Australia to raise awareness of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and there is an opportunity for everyone to be involved!

World IBD Day – 19 May

As founding members of World IBD Day, we continue to support our international colleagues and stand united with them as part of the global campaign to raise awareness of IBD.

There have been a number of organisations using the colour purple over the past couple of months and after consultation and agreement, we will be using ‘blue and yellow’ on 19 May to stand out and cut through the ‘purple’ clutter.

We are using this year’s hashtags #unitedwestand2016 and #worldibdday2016 on promotional material and you can visit www.worldibdday.org to view a map of the world where you will see all the places that have agreed to join World IBD celebrations.

Shining a Light on Crohn’s & Colitis

On World IBD Day, 19 May, we will be shining a light on IBD in partnership with several public buildings and attractions around the country offering to light up in support of CCA.

Below is a list of the buildings that we have secured agreement with:

Printed Material – Posters and Flyers

With the support of our sponsors Janssen, Shire and Takeda we have produced a new poster and information flyer for hospitals  and the general public – the theme is “How do you view the loo?” and aims to inform people of how differently a person with IBD views the loo and the challenge and sometimes fear in can present.   A press release to support this theme will also be sent out to the media with a supporting video which will be uploaded to our social media pages.

Silver Lining Lunch

This year we will be running our popular Silver Lining Lunch in Sydney at The Quay Restaurant on Sydney Harbour  – guest speaker will be Dr. Crispin Cortes and the entertainment will  be provided by leading Australian tenor, Mark Vincent.  A lunch is also planned for Brisbane in June.

Twibbon social media campaign

If you have a social media page you can upload a Twibbon to your profile and spread the word of Crohn’s and colitis.  The Twibbon features allows you to add the Crohn’s & Colitis Australia blue and yellow logo to your profile picture

Already over 10,000 people have viewed the Facebook post and over 200 have shared it, so it does bring great awareness on social media – Facebook and Twitter.
