In 2014 CCA obtained the endorsement of the peak learned bodies representing key health stakeholders to implement the Quality of Care Program. In its first two years, kickstarted by an Australian Government grant, the program undertook to develop the Australian IBD Standards and to perform a national audit of the organisation and provision of IBD services in Australia. After completing these projects successfully CCA’s ongoing commitment to the program was defined.
Aim of the IBD Quality of Care Program
To influence the organisation, resources, and provision of health care to promote better, person- centred outcomes for people living with IBD.
Since then CCA and its partners have completed important projects to improve outcomes for people living with IBD. These include two surveys on the patient experience of care and the preparation of an Australian IBD National Action Plan on behalf of the Australian Government.
