YEP Events
The YEP! Event involves groups of 20 teens coming together for a one day youth-led event involving:
- a personally challenging activity
- a professional IBD advocate speaker, and
- experienced peers (mentors) that have recent lived experience of adolescent IBD.
The speaker and mentors are selected CCA supporters and volunteers that provide valuable support and guidance in sharing their experiences in managing their illness throughout their teen years.
They will discuss topics relating to issues that teens with IBD face, such as part-time work, peer group support, managing the final years of high school and transitioning to tertiary education/training/work.
An Amazing Race, Acrobatics, Tree-Top Climb, or Escape Room type activity is also run on the day. This fosters group communication, teamwork, decision making and relationship building between participants and their peers.

TESTIMONIALS
“The best part of YEP! was hearing that I am not alone, talking about experiences with others, finding out ways to manage it through life”
– YEP! attendee
“I just wanted to thank the people involved in organizing the day at Latitude. My daughter had a fantastic time and was so grateful to finally meet some other people with Crohn’s disease, who understood what she is going through”
