Living Fearless with Tim

I am Tim Rasheed, husband, father and small business owner.
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2022. At that time I was battling through some typical IBD symptoms, and like some blokes my age, I thought I would just come good. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case, and as I was only a couple of years into fatherhood I thought that I would do the right thing and get checked out by my GP.
This in turn led to a colonoscopy and the diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. At first I was in denial. I didn’t believe it and didn’t want to do anything about it. But after reading more about the disease and listening to stories from other people, I knew I had to make changes to my lifestyle. The last few years have been challenging. I suffer through fatigue, abdominal pain and brain fog (or is this me just getting older? haha).
This is my third year participating in the LFC, and it something that I do for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, I do it for my own personal wellbeing. I have found that exercise is very helpful for boosting my physical and mental health. It is a huge reliever of stress, which is one of my biggest triggers for a flare up.
Secondly, I do it for my family, who have been so supportive through my Crohn’s journey. Whether it’s fetching my medication in the morning, giving me words of encouragement, or walking with me during the LFC, they have been awesome.
And finally, I do it for anyone else out there that is battling Crohn’s and colitis. I know how hard it is, and also how hard it can be to talk about it and to feel understood. I’ll do my best to raise as much money as possible and to spread awareness!
