Crohn’s & Colitis Australia Nurse Practitioner Scholarship 2026
In 2026 Crohn’s & Colitis Australia (CCA) is offered the inaugural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship to the total value of $20,000.
The scholarship is created to support nursing participation in the CCA strategic priority of building inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) research capacity in Australia whilst we search for a cause or cure for IBD.
The award is designed for candidates who are undertaking an accredited master’s degree leading to registration as a Nurse Practitioner in the field of inflammatory bowel disease.
Congratulations to Alissa Petterson undertaking studies at Queensland University of Technology and Daniel Lightowler at University of Sydney who will share the award to undertake the project: An exploration of women’s experiences of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) during perimenopause and menopause: A mixed methods study.
The study aims to explore and describe women’s lived experiences of inflammatory bowel disease during perimenopause and menopause and how the transition affects symptoms, wellbeing and healthcare needs.
Objectives:
- To assess changes in IBD symptoms, disease activity and quality of life during perimenopause and menopause.
- To explore women’s lived experience of managing IBD during perimenopause and menopause.
- To identify gaps in IBD healthcare support and information available to women during this life transition.
