Crohn's disease

“Their stories have filled me with confidence that this was the right decision for me” – Beatrice’s story
I have met some amazing people throughout this journey, both patients and professionals alike, and their stories have filled me with confidence that this was the right decision for me. Life with a stoma is certainly not an easy one, and also not an easy decision to make. In my case I can't imagine life without it, and I look forward to see where life takes us.

“A different perspective on life and what I value most” – Maddy’s story
"Despite how overwhelming this has been, and at times exceptionally isolating, I’ve learnt to adapt my lifestyle and thrive while living with Crohn’s disease. Having an amazing support network has helped, and exercise has been a lifesaver."

“I’ve almost lost my life a few times, so I’m determined to tick off my goals” – Bree’s story
"I think it has made me a more resilient person. I’ve almost lost my life a few times, so I’m determined to tick off my goals. You never know what the next day will bring, and there’s extra motivation to live every day to its fullest."

“For now, I can live my life in a way that I could have never imagined” – Tayla’s story
Since my surgery in 2020, after a few switches in biologicals due to allergic reactions, I have finally achieved a state of clinical remission with the help of a new gastroenterologist who believes every symptom and works tirelessly to ensure I’m living life the best I can.

“Even in the depths of despair, there is always hope” – Ebony’s story
My story is not just about surviving Crohn’s; it’s about thriving despite it. It’s about finding light in the darkest of times and believing in a future beyond the pain. I hope my journey inspires others facing similar battles to keep pushing forward, to find strength in their struggle, and to know that even in the depths of despair, there is always hope.

“I have a much better perspective of life and its hurdles” – Champion rally co-driver Matt Dillon’s story
I remember taking my gold medal to my GP and gastroenterologist, as a way of saying thank you. It’s been a long journey to get to this level of competing, and they were a significant part of my journey. I wanted to acknowledge their work, and the impact that they’ve had on me.
