Your symptoms could be caused by Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis or Microscopic Colitis, forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). But these symptoms can be common in other conditions.

Mention any other symptoms to your GP. Crohn’s and Colitis don’t just affect the gut. These conditions can cause other symptoms that keep coming back, including swollen joints, mouth ulcers, inflamed eyes and skin problems.

Your GP will assess you and decide if you need any tests. They may want to do poo (stool) tests and blood tests.

It’s important you get checked. Many conditions, including Crohn’s and Colitis, are easier to treat the earlier they are found.
