The BABYCINO Study
Are you pregnant and living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), in Melbourne? Or are you pregnant, without IBD, and want to contribute to a great cause?
Dr Tanya Lee, A/Prof Emily Wright, Dr Emma Flanagan, Prof Michael Kamm, Dr Ralley Prentice, and a research team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne are recruiting participants for a study exploring how diet influences gut bacteria in mothers with IBD and their infants. Pregnant women with IBD will have the opportunity to receive dietary education from expert IBD dietitians to optimise their gut health. They will also receive close IBD monitoring, including regular bowel ultrasounds, as well as comprehensive medical and nursing support throughout pregnancy.
We are seeking:
- Pregnant women with IBD, interested in a dietary intervention
- Pregnant women with IBD, not wanting to make dietary changes, but able to provide study samples and undergo close monitoring in pregnancy including regular bowel ultrasound
- Pregnant women without IBD, wanting to contribute to the study as healthy controls (no dietary changes needed)
If you or someone you know may be interested, we would love to hear from you. We also thank our current participants for their ongoing support of this project.
